Thanks to the Priceville Footbridge in McNamee NB, I had the pleasure of seeing the Miramichi River from a new vantage point!
The best part about working in real estate is helping people find their dream property. The next best part is all the beautiful places I visit in New Brunswick, and a recent drive had me passing by a hidden gem with a rich history.
It’s no secret that when travelling for work, I sometimes find myself compelled to stop and take in the beauty this province offers. Recently my travels brought me to Priceville, 20 minutes outside of Doaktown, NB.
This photo is of the 656 ft long Priceville footbridge, a suspension bridge which crosses the Mighty Miramichi River.
The Priceville footbridge was built in 1938 and replaced twice (the last time being in 1988). As a result, the suspension bridge is now constructed with two spans to cross the river.
Location of the Priceville Footbridge
Visiting and being brave enough to cross the Miramichi River on the Priceville footbridge is worth checking out if you’re in the area! It’s near Doaktown and Boiestown (or a lesser-known marker, McNamee, NB).
Written directions from Boiestown or Doaktown on Route 8 can be found here on the Hiking NB website.
You’ll find the google maps entry under the name McNamee-Priceville Footbridge (with over 140 positive reviews, it’s not to be missed).

A few things to know if you plan to visit this NB suspension bridge
Visiting with family or friends would be fun as you could see who doesn’t sweat the small stuff and can walk across the swaying bridge. It’s a narrow suspension bridge, which means walking it would be for the braver of the bunch (coming from someone who isn’t keen on heights).
The bridge is straightforward to get to, easy to find, well-maintained, and dog friendly.
Interested, but aren’t a thrill seeker?
If you aren’t fond of heights and prefer to keep your feet squarely on solid ground, the footbridge is still worth checking out!
The river shore view is a stunning spot to take in the view of the bridge’s architecture. It would also be a relaxing spot to rest or have a picnic.
In addition to being a scenic rest stop to take in the majestic Miramichi River, the shore looks like a great spot to put in a kayak if you’re up for a paddle.
